Obituary for Paul Eric Allen

Paul Eric Allen, 85, a lifelong resident of Newtown, died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on Saturday April 23, 2016. He graduated from Newtown High School in 1949 and held a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. He was employed for ten years at Remington Rand Electric Shaver Division in Bridgeport, working on the design and development of components, particularly plastic parts. He went on to work for Woodstream Sporting Goods Co., actively involved in developing the battery operated fishing reel. He then managed a small company, Thor Plastics, in Sandy Hook for two years, before starting his own business, Allen Molders, 1969, and later Logic Devices, Inc., 1976. Logic pioneered much of the auxiliary equipment used in today’s plastics industry. He was a founding member of the Newtown Jaycees Service Organization, and was honored by them with a lifetime membership in the USJCI Senate, Senator #1059. He was a member of the Newtown Congregational Church, where he was previously in the Choir and Men’s Service Club. He was predeceased by his parents, Sigfried and Therese Allen and four older Brothers, Albert, Robert, George, and Charles. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Suarez Allen, five children and spouses Paul and Andrea Allen, Grace Terry Allen, Randi and Roderic Kiely, Linda and Joseph Villafano, Susan and Robert Middlebrook, twelve grandchildren, one great grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
